One router in the corner is not a business network

Home routers are showing up in shops and small offices. Coverage, guest access and who holds the password matter more than the number of antennas.

A single router can feel like enough on a quiet day. It gets less comfortable when the shop, the office and the customers are all online at once.

Separate the people from the work

Staff devices and guest phones should not share one open network. A guest network, a written password and a named administrator keep a simple setup from becoming everybody’s network.

Coverage is not the same as capacity

A strong signal at the counter does not mean the back office, the store room or the meeting table can carry calls. Walk the rooms with the devices people actually use.

Write down the handover

Someone has to know the administrator login, how a new staff member gets access, and what to do when the router is replaced. That note belongs with the business, not only with the person who installed it.
